Alex D. Lentz, 26 of Sharpsville passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Howard County. Alex was born in Kokomo on July 24, 1995 to Brian T. & Julie Ann (Clem) Lentz. He was a 2015 graduate of Tri-Central High School where he participated in soccer and wrestling. He was working as an equipment operator for The Backyard Gardeners in Kokomo.
Alex enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating high school. He was in the Army Corps of Engineers and received his initial training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. He then spent two years in Grafenwoehr, Germany and returned to Fort Hood Texas. After leaving the army Alex spent one year in the reserves at Warner Robins in Georgia.
Watching basketball and participating in outdoor activities, especially fishing, kept Alex busy when he wasn’t at work.
Alex is survived by his mother and step-father, Julie & Gerald Mekosh, Warner Robins, Georgia; his father and step-mother, Brian & Karen Lentz, Sharpsville; his grandmothers, Mary Clem, Kokomo and Carol Lentz, Sharpsville. He also has five siblings, Jacob Lentz and companion Emily Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, Emily Oringderff and husband Corey of Warner Robins, Adam Mekosh of Warner Robins, Stephanie Fidler of Knoxville, Tennessee and Chet Fidler and wife Zoey of Sharpsville.
He has a nephew Israel Wilburn, a niece, Artemis Fidler, several aunts and uncles including Joe Clem, Alan Lentz, Terri Lentz and Deborah Marchiando.
Private graveside services are planned in Normanda Cemetery with Pastor Kim Drake presiding and burial to follow. A celebration of life is planned starting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16 at the Isaak Walton League, 2629 S. 200 E., Kokomo, where Alex’s family and friends will gather to celebrate and share memories of Alex. Everyone is invited to attend.
