Winifred L. "Winnie" HartleyWinifred L. "Winnie" Hartley, 92 of Tipton died at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton.  She was born on November 6, 1923 in Atlanta to Ray Arzie & Esther Lorene (Steffey) Bryan.  She married George Hartley on February 26, 1942 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1996.Winnie was a graduate of Atlanta High School.  She and George had lived in Virginia for a short time while he was serving in the Army.  They then made Tipton their home.  Winnie had worked at Carney's Drug Store and Tipton High School.Early in life she had been a member of the Atlanta Christian Church.  After marriage she became a member of the Hobbs Christian Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid group for over 50 years.  Even after joining Hobbs Christian Church, however, she still visited the Atlanta Christian Church where she still had many friends from her childhood.Winnie's proudest achievement was being a wife for 54 years to George and mother to her two children, David and Sharon.  She loved cooking, sewing and crafts.  She enjoyed serving on the Election Board each year and served annually through 2014.  She was a life-long cat lover and had many wonderful pet friends her entire life.  She had two special friends for over 70 years, Rosemary & Howard Leckrone of Forest.Winnie is survived by her two children, David Allen Hartley and Sharon Rae Hinkle and husband Gary, all of Tipton; a half-sister, Mrytle Jane Witham and husband Vance, Atlanta; nephews VE Witham, Arcadia, Joe Hartley, Marion, Steve Hartley, Elwood, Mike Hartley, Tipton, and Bill Hartley, Elwood.  She is also survived by nieces JoyceAnna Newby, Cicero, Jane Ann Dirks, Seymour, Brenda Recobs, Carmel, Judy Edmonson, Alexandria, Karen Swanson, Anderson, Jean Ann Carmack, Atlanta, Jane Marie Freeland, Carmel and Linda Robenalt, Davis California.The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the staff at Autumnwood Village and Miller's Merry Manor.Funeral services for Winnie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Branson presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday.Memorial contributions in Winnie's honor may be made to the Hobbs Christian Church, P.O. Box 302, Hobbs, Indiana, 46047.
