William E. “Bill” Baker

William E. "Bill" Baker, 80 of Atlanta died on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was born on March 13, 1933 in Anderson to James E. and Gladys V. (Cokrill) Baker. On December 26, 1954 he married Marilyn Holt and she survives.

He was a lifelong farmer. Bill was a member of the Oasis Community Church, Tipton and Gideons International. He was also a dealer for Beck's Hybrids, a bee keeper, and a private pilot. Bill loved to fly, garden and fish. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 – 1957.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two daughters, Judi Young and husband Mike, Indianapolis and Lori (Hooper) Thomas, Arcadia; a son, Doug Baker and wife Christine, Brownsburg; fourteen grandchildren, Colton Hooper and wife Katie, Larissa, Olivia, Elijah, Mariah and Ike Hooper, Korey, Kayla and Karli DuBois, Kelli Johnson and husband Jordan, Kyle, Maura, Noah and Brynna Baker; two great-granddaughters, seven step grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Denniston, Texas, Lynne Vettrus, Minnesota, and a brother James Baker, Anderson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki L. Privett.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 at the Oasis Community Church, 600 Fairgrounds Road in Tipton with Pastor Kim Drake presiding. Bill was buried in the Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
