Early Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m., November 26, 2016, William Burch “Bill” Peters, 77 passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Sharpsville surrounded by his family. Bill was the son of Charles and Mary Ann (Lee) Peters.
He was born on March 5, 1939, at Beechwood Hospital in Tipton County. He was a 1957 graduate of Sharpsville High School. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Judy Warner. They married on February 12, 1961, at the Sharpsville United Methodist Church. Bill and Judy have lived their entire married life in the same house and raised their two children, Billy and Jenny, there. Bill had been a life-long farmer, and his son, Billy, and daughter, Jenny, joined the family farm after graduating from Purdue. Grandson, Brady, after graduation, also joined the family farm marking a 6th generation of farmers in Bill’s family. Grandson, Cole, and granddaughter, Molly, are also working in ag-related fields.
Bill served on the Tipton County Co-Op board for over 25 years, served as Pork Festival president in 1976, became a Mason as a young man, and later became a Shriner. He enjoyed sprint car races, fishing in Canada, and spending time with his grandkids. Bill retired from farming in 2002. Bill had been a lifelong member of the Sharpsville Methodist Church. As Bill’s health began to fail, Pastor Kevin Carr, from Rock Prairie Baptist Church in Tipton, began to visit Bill. He visited him almost every week for three years. Pastor Kevin Carr, along with Bill’s grandson, Brady, were the ones who led Bill to the Lord.
Bill left behind many loved ones including his wife, Judy Peters, son, Billy and wife Vonda, his daughter, Jenny (Peters) Mundell and husband Mike, grandchildren, Brady Peters and wife Sam, Molly Peters, Cole Mundell, and a great-grandson, named after him, Brooks Burch Peters.
