Wayne CarsonWayne Carson, 92, Tipton died at 1:25 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo.  He was born June 27, 1916 in Tipton County to Walter & Lavina Pearl (Noble) Carson.  He married Inza Stokes and later in January 1949 he married Mary G. Caylor and she survives.Wayne was a graduate of Atlanta High School.  He enlisted in the Marines during World War II, serving in the 2nd Marine Division and saw action in Tinian, Mariannas Islands, Okinawa, Ryukyu Island and was ready to beach at Nagasaki when the atomic bomb was dropped.Wayne was a farmer in Hamilton and Tipton Counties.  He managed elevators and created a hog feed supplement named Powerful.  He appeared in farm magazines as the first farmer to have a farrowing house and to use nitrogen on a field.He and his wife owned a truck stop in Boone County.  He retired from Delco Electronics in 1981. Wayne was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church, the Austin Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine.  He was a avid fisherman, and hunter and enjoyed many sports.Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Darlyn Curnutt Hughes (Delaney), Bradenton, FL, and Marla Featherstone (Frosty), Tipton; three sons, James Caylor (Linda), Lebanon, Dale Caylor (Geri), Avoca, Michigan and Larry Caylor, San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Imogene Nance of Walnut Grove; eight grand-children, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Melissa Grishaw presiding.  Burial with military rites will be in Arcadia Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be performed at 7:30.Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida, 33607.
