Thomas “Tom” O’Donnell

Tom O’Donnell, age 78 of Tipton went to be with the Lord at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on August 10, 1934 in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Raymond W. and Mildred (Dunham) O’Donnell. Tom married Lenore Gangloff in Philadelphia on August 10, 1958, and she survives. They enjoyed 54 years together.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed at Fort Dix, N.J. Tom worked for Hy-Line International, Tipton, for almost 40 years. After retirement he helped operate the TLC Hallmark Shop in Tipton. He also consulted for Hy-Line for 7 more years. Before he passed away, he worked for Validus Services involving the poultry business for 5 years.

He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton and enjoyed his family and grandchildren, and part-time farming. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He liked to travel, especially with his fifth wheel camper.

He is survived by three daughters, Kim Day and husband Mike, Sharpsville, Patty Burkhardt and husband John, Cicero and Cathy Anthony and husband Bill, Bordentown, New Jersey. He has six grandchildren, Adam and Allison Day, Alyssa and Krista Burkhardt and Nathan and Abigail Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Tom's funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton with Pastor Robb Roloff presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
