Thomas D. Morris, 76 of Kokomo died at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on July 4, 1935 in Kankakee, Illinois to Harry P. and Gertrude E. (Bocke) Morris. On November 10, 1956 he married Roseanne Tippy and she preceded him in death on December 2, 1991. He then married Bernadette A. Goodman on April 22, 1995 and she survives.
Tom retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Viet Nam wars and received the Air Medal. After his service in the Air Force he worked for H.E. McGonigal as the finance and warranty manager, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, former choir member at the church, and was a Graduate of Ball State with a Bachelor’s Degree in business.
Tom was also a member of the Studebaker Driver’s Club, attending many International Meets with the club. He enjoyed railroad related trips and was a member of the Midwest Model Railroaders.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadette; two children, Teresa A. Nichols and husband Bob, Tipton, Michael Morris, Kokomo; three step-children, Cecilia Dillman and husband Steve, Sharpsville, Michelle LaCluyse and husband DJ, Kokomo, Ted Goodman and wife Lawona, Farmland; four grandchildren, Aaron Nichols, Tom Nichols and fiancé Robin Garrison, David Nichols, and Brandon Morris; four step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Dillman, Olivia LaCluyse, Dakota and Sierra Goodman; two sisters and one brother, Virgina Droz, Chicago, John Morris and wife Kim, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Mary Cousino, Hixson, Tennessee.
Tom’s funeral will be at 12:00 noon Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kokomo with Rev. Joshua Bennett presiding. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Rochester at 3:30 p.m. on Monday with military honors. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church for the Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel, 1204 North Armstrong Street, Kokomo, IN 46901. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
