Steven Lee Owens

October 24, 1947 — April 14, 2012

Steven Lee Owens, 64 of Tipton died at 11:12 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. A life-long Tipton resident he was born October 27, 1947 in Tipton to Leroy & Ruby Nell (Marshall) Owens. On November 21, 1986 he married Carol Neuendorf and she survives.

Steve was a machine operator at Chrysler in Kokomo, working there for over 37 years when he retired in April 2008. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War. Steve was a graduate of Tipton High School and a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton. Steve had served as a Little League baseball coach. He loved woodworking, golf, model trains and his dogs.

Survivors besides his wife Carol include three sons, Justin Owens, South Bend, Cory Owens and wife Heather, Zionsville and Aaron Owens and wife Brynn, Tomball, Texas; two step-sons, Paul Parker, Noblesville and William Parker and wife Shannon, Muncie. He is also survived by three brothers, Dennis Neal Owens and wife Juanita, Indianapolis, Billy Joe Owens, Tipton and K. Douglas Owens, Indianapolis; one grandson, David Charles Owens; six step-grandchildren, Zechariah, Hannah, Gabriel, Devlin, Sebine and Hope Parker.

Steve's funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton with Rev. Robb Roloff presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.
