Sonja J. BordersSonja J. Borders, 72, of Kokomo, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Houston, Texas.  She had previously lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado for 20 years.  Sonja was born on April 1, 1940 in Indianapolis to Burell and Moina (Sauerweine) Downs.  On May 16, 1963 she married Jesse Borders Sr. and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1977.She is retired and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Kokomo.Sonja is survived by her children; Robin Beecher and husband Russ, Colorado Springs, Kelly Borders and husband Jim, Houston, Jesse Borders Jr. and wife Debbie, Westfield, and Rusty Borders and wife Kelly, Westfield; one sister Beverly Scott of Kokomo. Nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday, July 19 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Mueller presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Thursday at the funeral home.
