Ruth Newlon HarrellRuth Newlon Harrell, 103, Tipton died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her residence.  She was born January 16, 1907 in Tipton County to Lewis T. & Myrtle (Graham) Carter.  She married Lewis H. Newlon in 1930 and he preceded her in death in 1962.  In 1983 she married Vernon A. Harrell and he died in 2006.She was a homemaker and a former drapery maker for Cooper's Home Furnishings. Ruth was a 50-year member of the Sharpsville Chapter of Order of Eastern Star.She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Scherich and husband Lloyd, Tipton; one grandson, Brad Scherich and wife Janet; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Scherich, all of Tipton.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Oral T. Carter, Ray Carter, Dave Carter and Carl Carter and two sisters, Mabel Hinkle and Opal Allen.Ruth's funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6 at Young- Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Sutherland presiding.  Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angels Hospice Foundation,  412 W. Sycamore Street, Kokomo, Indiana, 46901.Ruth's family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of Guardian Angel Hospice Services.  The care and concern for our family was above and beyond anything we could ever have expected.  Each and every one provided a sense of peace and love which will never be forgotten.  Each person has given our family the most wonderful, beautiful and sensitive gift humans have to offer.
