Ruby Lucille Captain, 87 of Tipton died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born August 7, 1924 in Jefferson Township, Tipton County, to Enoch & Grace (Helfer) Stafford. On September 20, 1942 she married Roy A. Captain who preceded her in death on May 22, 1997
She was a wife, mother and homemaker. Ruby was a member of the West Street Christian Church.
Ruby is survived by three sons, Ronald G. Captain and wife Diane, The Woodlands, Texas, Michael C. Captain, Huntington, West Virginia, Steven K. Captain and wife Darlene, Noblesville; one sister, Enola Manifold, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Kristen (Captain) Streeter, Craig Captain, Kyle Captain, Catherine (Captain) Foster, Michelle (Captain) Stiles, Erin (Captain) London, and Daniel Captain; thirteen great-grandchildren, Collin Moitz, Courtney Moitz, Jackson Captain, Jillian Captain, Huck Captain, Tanner Foster, Grace Foster, Molly Stiles, Ben Captain, Chase London, Wyatt London, Brogan London, and Amelia London; special friends, Lonnie Watson and his wife Carol, Tom Phifer, whom Ruby considered her fourth son, and his wife Susan.
She was proceeded in death by three brothers, Bernard M. Stafford, Burrell C. Stafford, and Cleon Bud Stafford; three sisters, Helen M. Woods, Anna Jane Foutch, and Edith M. Hunter.
There are no services planned. Burial will be at the Six Mile Church Cemetery, Bluffton, Indiana at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Street Christian Church, 132 North West Street, Tipton, Indiana 46072.
