Robert N. Zell, 91 of Tipton died at 6:19 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Vincent Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born December 27, 1924 in Kokomo to Omer N. & Francis (Crain) Zell. On December 28, 1947 he married E. Rosalyn Lewis and she survives.
Bob had retired from the Indiana State Police in 1969 and then from Delco Remy, Anderson in 1972. He was a member of the West Street Christian Church, Fraternal Order of Police and the American Legion. Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1943 and attended Butler University.
Survivors besides his wife include three children, Stephen N. Zell and wife Donna, Cicero, Cynthia Juday and husband Jeff, Noblesville and James L. Zell and wife Ellen, Cicero; six grandchildren, Chris Zell and wife Heather, Daniel Zell, Kyle Juday and wife Nicole, Kevin Juday, Britta Zell, Landon Zell; two great-grandchildren, Nora Zell and Luke Juday; one sister, Mary Ellen Brake, Ft. Wayne.
Bob's funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14 at the West Street Christian Church with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, all at the church. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
