Robert N. Smith

Robert N. SmithRobert N. Smith, 84,Tipton died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008  at his residence.  He was born in Tipton County on January 13, 1924 to Glenn H. and Sarah (Hinkle) Smith.  On November 24, 1946 he married Virginia Longfellow and she survives.Robert had retired from farming.  He was a member of the East Union Christian Church were he served as an elder and a Deacon, and was a member of the Tipton County Historical Society.Survivors besides his wife Virginia include one son, Greg Smith and wife Sandie, Muncie, two daughters Sarah Floyd and husband Steve, Yorktown, Anita Gunning and husband Tom, Elwood, four grandchildren Andrea Wilson and husband Scott, Jason Gunning, Jennifer Drive, Ryan Smith, four great-grandchildren, and one brother Jack A. Smith and wife Jane, Ft. Myers, Florida..  He was preceded in death by one brother William E. Smith.Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31,  at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Dunning presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made to the East Union Christian Church.
