Robert L. Houston

Robert L. HoustonRobert L. Houston, 86 of Sugar Land, Texas died in Sugar Land on Sunday, January 11, 2015.  He was born September 15, 1928 in Dunreith, Indiana to James & Lucille (Rogers) Houston.  Robert had previously lived in Tipton from 1957 to the early 1960's, in Rossville from 1973 - 1989, then in his RV traveling for 19 years until settling in Alamo, Texas.  He married Carolyn Diehlman on July 15, 1957 and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2014.Robert retired in 1989 from the oil company Emro Marketing where he worked in mid-level management.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-48 and the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-57.Survivors include three daughters, Linda Houston, Richmond, Texas, Lisa Evans and husband Mark, Apex, North Carolina, Maria Beck and husband Steve, Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Michelle McQuien and husband Marcus, David Evans, Laura Evans, Megan (Beck) Garland and husband J.R.; one brother, John Houston.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Hinchman and Marianne Hadley.A graveside service for Robert will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, January 16 at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton with military honors.  Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.
