Robert J. Tragesser, 81, Tipton passed away at 4:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at his daughter's residence. He was born on October 21, 1930 in Tipton to Aloysius and Christina (Funke) Tragesser.
He was a graduate of Tipton High School and a veteran of the US Navy. Robert was an active member of the American Legion and past Commander of the American Legion. He was also a member of the "Forty and Eight" and the Knights of Columbus. Robert worked as a tool and die engineer, retiring from Shepard Tool in Elwood.
He is survived by Deanne Tragesser, Tipton; six children, Debbie Tragesser and Westley Tragesser, Tipton, Rose House and husband Bobby, Louisville, Kentucky, Suzanne Alexander, Tipton, Dennis Tragesser and wife Hope, Chatsworth, California, Theresa Frix and husband Brent, Tipton, Barbara Stuck and husband Steve, Brownsburg, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Jarid Frix, Dylan Frix, Bailey House, Sarah Alexander, Taylor House, Aubree Frix, Anne Alexander, Hannah Tragesser, Kaitlyn Tragesser, Peyton Tragesser and Sydney Stuck. He is also survived his siblings, Rita Parr, Jim Tragesser, Connie Mumford, Henni Schulenburg, Fran Mozzone, Becky Soupley, Donna Tidler, John Tragesser, and Ted Tragesser. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tom and Herb Tragesser.
Robert's funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elwood, with Rev. Keith Hosey presiding. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton, with military honors. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
