Robert A. Silence, 86 of Kokomo died at 9:50 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born in Tipton County on May 13, 1932 to Hollis F. and Margie M. (Cartwright) Silence.
Bob worked for Chrysler in Kokomo, retiring after 37 years of employment. He was a member of the Tipton Elks Lodge # 1012 and the Austin Masonic Lodge and served in the Army National Guard. He was a very outgoing person, never meeting a stranger. He lived his life as he wanted and was very dear to all.
Bob is survived by a son, Torin S. Silence and his wife, Wanda “Sue” of Shawnee, Kansas; grandchildren Benjamin McClure, Kelly Shriver, and Ashley Silence; great-grandchildren Noah, Elijah, Samuel and Althea. Other survivors include his siblings Allen Silence and wife Omi, Leon Silence and wife Colette, a brother-in-law Phil Whelchel, sisters-in-law Diane Silence and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Hollis Dane “Skipper” Silence, his sister Linda Whelchel and brothers William and Cleon Silence.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Meriah VanderWeide presiding. Burial at Liberty Baptist Cemetery will follow. Visitation will also be at the church Tuesday from noon until service time.
