Robert A. Deering, 83 of Tipton died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel. He was born May 18, 1928 to Robert King & Martha Ellen (Cutler) Deering. He married Connie Fox and then later married Linda Lineback on May 18, 1985 and she survives.
Bob was the owner of Deering Cleaners in Tipton for many years. He had also owned an art studio in Atlanta and later the Arcadia Glass restaurant in Arcadia. Later in life Bob worked at the car wash in Tipton.
He was a graduate of Windfall High School, served on the Tipton City Park Board, was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Tipton Elks Lodge and a Past Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed playing solitaire, finding time for it almost every day.
Survivors besides his wife Linda include children Steve Deering and wife Judy, Mission Viejo, California, Felecia Brennan and husband Pete, Burkesville, Kentucky, Jason Deering and wife Dawn, Atlanta, Gary Smith and wife Teri, Tipton, and Melissa Smith, Arcadia. Bob had 10 grandchildren, Drew Deering, Jessie Ullerich, Derrick Cloar, Telissa Carpenter, Matt Deering, Sunny Johnson, Misty Cowert, Levi Deering, Alycia Smith and Amy Smith. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and his beloved dog Abby. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Cloar.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28 at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton with burial to follow. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
