Robert A. “Bob” Taylor

Robert A. "Bob" Taylor, 83 of Tipton died at 12:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor. He was born September 6, 1932 in Austin, Indiana to William Henry & Hazel Inez (McCoskey) Taylor. On December 20, 1952 Bob married the love of his life, Mary Lou McClain and she survives.

Bob retired as the Eastern U.S. Manager for Hy-Line International after 32 years of service. He was a 1950 graduate of Austin High School and graduated from Hanover College in 1954. Bob served in the US Army as a Corporal in the Medical Corps/Medical Hospital from 1955-57. He taught biology at Tipton High School for 10 years before going to work for Hy-Line.

Bob was a member of West Street Christian Church where he was a past deacon, elder emeritus and teacher of the R&R Sunday School Class. He had also belonged to the Tipton Kiwanis Club.

Survivors besides his wife Mary Lou include three children, LuAnn Conaway and husband Bob, Tipton, Brian Taylor and wife Mary Jane, Tipton and Lori Taylor, Wilmington, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Brandon Conaway, Aaron Conaway, Carey Phifer, Abby Crume and Daniel Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Bob is also survived by one brother, Donald Taylor and wife Sally, Austin, Indiana and one sister, Dixie Lou Souder and husband Norman, Salem, Indiana.

Funeral services for Bob will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 at the West Street Christian Church with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, also at the church. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
