Richard Odell Roberts

Richard “Odell” Roberts, 85 formerly of Kokomo passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 in Stuart, Florida, where he had resided for the last six years.  He was born in Monticello, Kentucky on April 27, 1932 to John Jefferson Roberts and Lythia Cansada (Steel) Roberts.  Odell moved to Indiana as a teenager to live with his sister Anna Lee Townsend.  He lived there until he married Norma Jane Scott in 1951.  They were married 26 years.

Odell retired after 33 years as a crane operator from Continental Steel Corporation.  After his retirement from the mill he worked for the FDA as an inspector traveling thru many states. His last employment was as manager of Holiday Mobile Park retiring in 2012.

Left to honor his memory are his two daughters, Kathy married to Stephen Robert Marshall and Debra married to Frederick Earl Chaplin; grandchildren, Andrea married to Mark Cooper, Courtney married to Michael Sandor Papacsi, Nickolas Chaplin married to Krista Jackson, Kathryn Lynn married to Daniel McNamara; great-grandchildren, Owen and Stella Cooper, Maddox and Jackson Chaplin, Declan and Delaney McNamara, all of South Florida.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews scattered throughout the USA.  He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin; two sisters, Ella Norfleet and Anna Lee Townsend.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Brown presiding.  He will be laid to rest at the Normanda Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday.
