Richard A. BurrisRichard Allen Burris, 85 of Tipton died Monday, December
31, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 12, 1927 in Tipton
to Clyde & Dora (Price) Burris. On October 25, 1947 he married
Peggie Joy Edwards and she survives.Richard was a machinist at Perfect Circle in Tipton,
retiring in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and
was a 48-year member of both the VFW and the American Legion.
He belonged to the Moose for 39 years and was a life member of the
F.O.P. and B.A.S.S. Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman,
participating in many bass tournaments. He loved to golf, camp, and
had also served as a Little League coach.Survivors besides his wife Peggie include four
children, Donna Tucker, Marion, Linda Sumis, Homer Glen, Illinois,
Gordon Burris and wife Stacey, Sharpsville and Martha Pottenger and
husband Mike, Tipton; 12 grandchildren, Junior Weismiller,
Bill Weismiller, Lisa Tragesser, Andy Tragesser and wife Michelle,
Joe Sumis, Allison Sumis, Amy Sumis, Clint Pottenger, Rachel Boes,
Sarah Pottenger, Mary Pottenger and Katie Burris.He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren,
Skylar Weismiller, Dalton Weismiller, Devon Weismiller, Tanner
Morris, Emma Hill, Jacob Tragesser, Seth Sumis, Kyle Pottenger,
Carson Pottenger, Tanner Pottenger, Lexus Ford, Saeli Ford and Abbie
Burris; two great-great-grandchildren, Issac Weismiller and Jarron
Weismiller. He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven
sisters.A memorial service for Richard will be held at 3:00
p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Trinity Wesleyan Church with
Rev. Johnnie Blair presiding. The family will greet friends at
the church from 2:00 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
