Phyllis J. Akard, 90 of Tipton died on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. She had lived her whole life in the Tipton and Sheridan areas. She was born December 24, 1925 in Clinton County to Samuel B. & Cleo G. (Wheatley) Boyer. On June 20, 1948 she married Robert E. Akard and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1999.
Phyllis worked as the bookkeeper for Bob's Marathon in Kokomo which she and her husband owned. She was a member of the Terhune United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #200. She graduated from high school at Sugar Creek Township in Clinton County and attended Indiana Business College in Indianapolis.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Harold W. Boyer.
Phyllis J. Akard has made an anatomical gift of her body to the Indiana University School of Medicine. A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at a later date.
