P. Alan Sottong, 71 of Tipton died at 6:35 a.m. Thursday, September 27 at IU Health Tipton Hospital. He was born July 24, 1941 in Tipton to Arnold F. & Gladys E. (LaRue) Sottong. On October 26, 1963 he married Nancy E. Henry and she survives.
Alan was a farmer. He belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a member of the Ushers Club. Alan was also a former board member of Farm Bureau and the Cicero Township Advisory Board.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sottong; three children, Elizabeth Zieles and husband Jim, Indianapolis, Mike Sottong and wife Chrissy, Tipton, Christina Fair and Husband Doug, Pittsboro; a sister, Annette Sottong, State of Washington; a brother, Richard Sottong and wife Kay, Tipton; seven grandchildren, Megan, Matt, and Mark Zieles, Kala and Josh Sottong, Ashley and Ethan Fair.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a Wake Service at 4:00 p.m.
