Omer Leroy BurkettOmer Leroy Burkett, 91, Tipton, died at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007  at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.  Leroy was born in Tipton on February 28, 1916 to Omer and Mabel (McNeal) Burkett.  He married Gracie Jane Rudkin on June 20, 1948, and she preceded him in death.Leroy was a farmer. He was a member of the Hobbs Christian Church, the Austin Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Shrine Club.  He served during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He belonged to the American Legion.Leroy is survived by one daughter, Linda Keifer and two sons, John E. Burkett and Michael L. Burkett, all of Tipton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Alpha Ellison of Tipton.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Avie Trefz and Susie Beeh and two brothers, Lloyd and James Burkett.Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.  A Masonic service will be performed at the start of the funeral service.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 6415 Castleway W.
