Nelda F. Semon

Nelda F. Hinds SemonNelda Faye Hinds Semon, 75 of Elwood died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at her residence.  She was born July 31, 1940 in Clay County, Tennessee to Magnus Long & Belva Anderson Grubb.  On December 5, 1959 she married David Hinds and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1989.  She then married Donald Semon on November 2, 1991 and he survives.Nelda had retired in 2008 after working in the libraries at Elwood Schools.  She was a 1959 graduate of Tipton High School.  Nelda was a stay at home mom with her three daughters and later in life worked in several part-time jobs.  She was a member of Delta Theta Tau of Elwood for several years.Nelda enjoyed playing cards and for several years was in a euchre club.  She loved to travel and spend time with her family.  She was a loving wife, mother and a wonderful Memaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors besides her husband Don include three daughters, Cathy Hogan and husband Randy, Tipton, Gina Jackman and husband Greg, Elwood and Missie Sottong and husband Rick, Tipton; two sons, Mark Semon and wife Liz, Chicago and Mike Semon and wife Ashkea, Noblesville; a foster daughter Mary Dever, Atlanta.She is also survived by two brothers, Mike Cottingham, Kokomo and Terry Cottingham; 10 grandchildren, Amber Mackey (Chad), Tiffani White (Jonathan), Sarah Jackman (Andy Kidder), Scott Jackman (Toni Kontos), Tyler Sottong (Kelsey Stahl), Shelbie Sottong, Mallorie Sottong, Rylan & Jenner Semon and Estelle Semon.  Nelda also has six great-grandchildren, Alexus & Drake Mackey, Holden & Gabriella White, Samantha Sottong and Maci Kidder.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Edward Long.Nelda's funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 30 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Soden presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a memorial service by Delta Theta Tau sorority at 5:00 p.m.Memorial contributions in Nelda's honor may be made to Delta Theta Tau, c/o Lori Crabtree, 1226 S.
