Michael James Trusty of Peru unexpectedly passed away in his home on February 21, 2019.
Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24 at St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church, 914 West Taylor Street in Kokomo. Panakhida will be read immediately after visitation with an all-night Vigil at the church from 9:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. A traditional Orthodox funeral service officiated by Father Philip Lashbrook will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25 at the church with graveside service immediately following at Barnett Cemetery, Kokomo.
Michael was born in July of 1955 in Kokomo. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1973 and, as any good hippie would do, moved to Washington, D.C. The majority of his career was spent in various roles in commercial transportation. He married Beverly Letton in the late 1970s and raised two sons. He met the love of his life, Jennifer, in 2002 and they were married October 24, 2004. Never were two people more compatible and their love was admired by many!
He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church, serving as a member of the choir and Parish Council and immensely enjoyed conversing with those who stopped by the church booth at the annual Haynes-Apperson Festival.
Anyone who knew Michael loved him. His wit, depth, and compassion, along with his cheery banter, made him an instant friend to all.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Beverly Trusty, son Aaron Trusty, brothers Arthur Jr. and Ray Trusty, and his niece Kierra Kitts. He is survived by wife Jennifer Trusty, son David (Ida) Trusty, step-daughters Madeline, Elizabeth & Anastasia Daily, “like-a-daughter” Kelsey Wise, siblings Karen Trusty, Peggy (Bill) Riebe, Jeff Trusty, Anthony Trusty, John (Brenda) Trusty and Janet (Brett) Dunlap. Michael is also survived by granddaughters Ava Johnson & Alisha Trusty and step-grandson Scott Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
Pallbearers include John Trusty, brother-in-law Jeff Williamson, and nephew Jordan Williamson.
