Maxine Doversberger

Maxine Mildred Doversberger, 93 of Tipton died at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Tipton. She was born February 12, 1923 in Kirklin, Indiana to James & Ruby (Bennett) Stowers. She married Gene Doversberger on October 29, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1997.

Maxine was a homemaker and a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton. As a loving wife and mother, she lived out her faith in God always giving, forgiving and sharing from her blessings. She was an active server to her church, family and the community. Maxine cared for the character and souls of family and friends. She was well known for her decorating talent and her gift of hospitality. She served in the US Navy during WWII.

Maxine is survived by four children, Terry Doversberger and wife Georgene, Fort Worth, Texas, Beth Buhr and husband Thomas, Westgate, Iowa, Kurt Doversberger and Janice Overdorf and husband Tom, all of Tipton; three sisters, Katherine King, Kirklin, Barbara Hubeli, Frankfort and Carolyn Clements, Las Vegas.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Dustin Doversberger and wife Brittany, Samantha Doversberger, Keith Buhr and wife Natalie, Kurt Buhr and wife Bobbie, Kiel Buhr and wife Kathryn, Maria Woolery and husband Phil, Emily Rivers and husband Mitchel, Andrea Broedel and husband Derek, Amy Stroup and husband Andrew, Ryan Overdorf and wife Suzette, Eric Overdorf and Justin Overdorf. She also has 10 great-grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Gene and one grandson, Jason Overdorf.

Funeral services for Maxine will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton with Rev. Robb Roloff presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and on Sunday the family will greet friends at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
