Mary Jane AltherrMary Jane Altherr, 82 of Tipton died at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at her residence.  She was born November 20, 1928 in Frankfort, Indiana to Carl Russell and Mary Blanche (Spaulding) Kelley.  Mary Jane married Eugene Altherr on September 4, 1954, and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1996.She was a homemaker.  Mary Jane was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, St. Christopher Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion Auxiliary.She is survived by six children, Chris Altherr, Tipton, Mary Altherr, Indianapolis, Joe Altherr, Wapakoneta, Ohio, Pete Altherr and wife Michelle, Tipton,  Mickie Altherr, Tipton, Sharon Hinkle and husband Hink, Tipton; 11 grandchildren, Wendy Thomas, Kala Altherr, Aeriel Jennings, Katrina Altherr, Tabitha Altherr, Jasmine Altherr, Andy Hinkle, Emily Hinkle, Belle Rogers, Maddie Altherr and Marcus Altherr; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Fannie Kelley, Elwood and two nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Richard Kelley.Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding.  Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St John the Baptist Catholic School, 323 Mill St., Tipton, Indiana 46072.
