Mary Elizabeth Stewart, 89 of Tipton died at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born January 7, 1924 in Tipton County to Arthur & Carrie Ethel (Jackson) Samuels. On April 11, 1944 she married Charles Otis Stewart and he preceded her in death on November 18, 1993.
Mary was a housewife and during WWII she worked at Allison in Indianapolis to help with the war effort. She was a member of the Hills Baptist Church and the Women's Circle at the church.
Survivors include five children, Ted Stewart and wife Nancy, Alexandria; Connie Campbell and husband Dwight, Tipton; Gary Stewart and wife Beverly, Frankfort; Dennis Stewart and wife Beth, Kempton; and Brian Stewart and wife Beth, Kirklin; 13 grandchildren, Tom Stewart, Melissa Stewart, Tami Wright, Amy Campbell, Neal Campbell, Jenny Campbell, Andrew (AJ) Stewart, Courtney Fredenburg, April Overdorf, Kristi Banter, Nick Stewart, Matthew Stewart, and Shane Stewart; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Johnson Grant, Eva Carey; one brother, Joe Samuels and wife Phyllis.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen, Bill, Ralph, and Paul Samuels and three sisters, Bea Johnson, Martha Armstrong, and Lylith June Albertis.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Louden presiding. Burial will follow at Tetersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Hills Baptist Church, 4296 S. County Road 1380 East, Kirklin, Indiana, 46050.
