Mary Catherine Scott

(Mary) Catherine Scott, 79 of Tipton passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at IU Health Tipton Hospital. She was born in Tipton on October 8, 1939 to Ivan Goodman and Winona “Twiggy” (Edgell) Murray. She was married to David Dillard until his death on December 7, 1988 and she then married Junior J. Scott who also preceded her in death on January 8, 2006.

Catherine had worked at Delco in Kokomo as a member of Local 292, retiring in 1995. She was a life-long member of the American Legion and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include five children, Jean Hardwick and husband Bob, Tipton, Tori Hearn and husband Jarrod, Tipton, Jane Ferraro and husband Bill, Tipton, Jonnah Harden, Kentucky and Tom Scott, Tipton. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Mona Phifer, Kokomo, Georgia Goodman, Elwood and Dwayne Phifer and wife Judy, Greenfield; one brother-in-law, John Bornman, Arcadia; eight grandchildren, Tristan Plake, Kaitlyn Hearn, Kim Hearn, Ashley Giovene, Wesley Harden, Jacob Harden, Nathan Harden and Sabeth Harden; 11 great-grandchildren.

Catherine was preceded in death by one son, Gerry Scott, and one sister, Sonya Bornman.

Funeral services for Catherine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Markins presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
