Mary Alice Nichols

Mary Alice NicholsMary Alice Nichols, 74, Tipton, died at 4:33 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born May 14, 1935 in Elwood to Lowell H. and Madonna (Clyde) Kinder.  On August 25, 1956 she married Philip V. Nichols and they were married for 52 years.She was a Registered Nurse at Tipton County Memorial Hospital and later in life she worked with her husband at Young-Nichols Funeral Home where she was co-owner.  Mary Alice was a graduate of Tipton High School, Class of 1952 and she graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1956.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and its Altar-Rosary Society, Red Hat Society, Tipton County Historical Society . She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Caregiver Companion, Tipton Hospital Auxiliary, and was a former Tipton County Coroner. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling the world.Survivors besides her husband Phil include one daughter, Lynn N. Hall and husband Chris, Madison, Indiana; three sons, Bob Nichols and wife Teri, Tipton, Brad Nichols and wife Christine, Tipton, and Mike Nichols and wife Diann, Hartford City, Indiana; two brothers, David L. Kinder and wife Charlotte, Sellersburg, Indiana, James S. Kinder and wife Linda, Fishers, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Nan Nichols, Wooster, Ohio.Mary Alice also had fourteen grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, and Noah Hall, Aaron, Thomas, and David Nichols, Emily, Lindsay, and Philip Nichols, Khaila Brown, Kinsey Nichols, Emily, Cameron, and Kyle Orr;  four great-grandchildren, Riley Nichols, Amaiyah, Ta'Leigha, and Ta'Breiah Nichols; several nieces and nephews.Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipton, with Rev. Frank Kilcline presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to the Tipton County Foundation, P.O.
