Marliyn Joan Ballard

Joan (Cage) Ballard, 79 of Tipton went to be with the Lord at 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at IU Health Tipton Hospital. She was born July 27, 1934 in Tipton to Harold & Goldie (Glass) Cage. On November 28, 1952 she married Jim R Ballard and he preceded her in death on December 19, 1993.

Joan worked for the Indiana State Highway Department in Tipton for 20 years retiring in 1997. She was a graduate of Tipton High School. Joan was a faithful member of Trinity Wesleyan Church for over 50 years, serving in many ministries of the church through the years.

She is survived by three children, John Ballard, Tipton, Jay Ballard and wife Marsha, Tipton, Virginia "Ginny" Cornwell and husband David, Jackson, Michigan; four grandchildren, Alisha (Ballard) Armes and husband Jason, Krista (Ballard) Armes and husband Todd, Jason Ballard, Derek Cornwell and wife Tiffany; eight great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Brody Armes; two brothers, Harold Cage Jr. and Jerry Cage.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, at Trinity Wesleyan Church, Tipton with Rev. David Cornwell presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Church.
