Marisa Dawn Reese-Thorud

Marisa Dawn Reese-Thorud of La Crosse, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the age of 63, while visiting with her Uncle Ron & Aunt Linda Vores in Tipton, Indiana.

Dawn is survived by her husband of 24 years, John W. Thorud; her daughter, Jessica Dale Reese and son, Mychal B. Reese (Nicol) and her grandson, Brody Reese who was the joy of her life. Her siblings, Anastasia Page Honeycutt, Kristen Blaine Reese, Lisa Marie Reese, Stephanie Reyne Reese, nephew Austin (Amanda) Reese, niece Rebecca K. Reese, great-niece Rylee Reese and Aunt Mickie & Uncle Frank Freeze are left to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald H. Reese and Clemma Kay (Vores) Reese-Varner.

Dawn was born on April 26, 1960 in New Castle, Indiana. In her youth she and her family moved to the La Crosse, Wisconsin area. She attended Holmen High School and worked at La Crosse – Mayo Family Medicine as a nursing assistant. She was an avid dog lover and could often be heard saying that there is always room for one more dog. She loved to go camping and driving ATVs and enjoyed fishing trips to northern Wisconsin.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A private family memorial service is being planned for later this summer.
