Marion Leon Mitchell, 90 of Sarasota, Florida died at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Magnolia Health & Rehabilitation Center in Sarasota. He had formerly lived in Kempton for 60 years. Marion was born October 20, 1924 in Clarks Hill, Indiana to Benjamin H. & Goldie Florence (Strain) Mitchell. On December 3, 1950 he married Marilyn L. Martin and she survives.
Marion was a life-long farmer, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Kempton Masonic Lodge, Kempton Odd Fellows Lodge, Flying Farmers and Tipton County Co-Op.
Survivors besides his wife Marilyn include one son, Michael L. Mitchell and wife Paula, Sarasota; one daughter, Barbara A. Wood and husband Joseph, Flora and one sister, Joy McQuinn, Tipton. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Ryan Mitchell, Alissa Mitchell and Clayton Hughes and wife Jennifer; two step-grandsons, Joseph Reilly and Marcus Reilly and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass for Marion will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Christopher Shocklee presiding. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
