Margie L. Thorp

Margie L. Thorp, 96 of Tipton, died at 10:26 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Harbour Manor in Noblesville.  She was born on August 3, 1922 in Clinton County to John & Audrey (Weaver) Cunningham.  On March 22, 1941 she married Ellsworth “Sam” Thorp and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2002.

Margie was a graduate of Scircleville High School and worked at Production Credit.  She was a member of Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church and Order of Eastern Star, Rosary Chapter #66.  Margie also volunteered more than 1000 hours at Tipton Hospital over the years.

She is survived by three children, Sam L. Thorp and wife Nancy, Carmel, James C. Thorp and wife Jean, Kempton; Susan T. Jacobs and husband Steven, Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Jeffery Thorp, Indianapolis, Douglas Thorp and wife Angi, Cincinnati, Ohio, Blair Thorp and wife Lori, Carmel, Denton Jacobs and wife Melissa Daniel, Chicago, and Briana Jacobs, Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Anna Thorp, Reilly Thorp, Parker Thorp, and Francesca Jacobs.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Cunningham, Jean Schmidt, Betty Clark, and Barbara Yeaple.

Margie’s funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9 at Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church with Melissa Litka presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton and an hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
