Mabel L. "Mae" Sutton, 92 of Tipton died at 10:57 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born on September 24, 1923 in Martinsburg, West Virginia to William and Bertha (Welty) Ritenour. On January 12, 1944 she married William M. "Bill" Sutton, Sr. and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2012.
Mae worked at Fletcher's Cafeteria, later Holderman's Cafeteria for 37 years, After that she worked as a cook at the Tipton County Home. She was a member of the West Street Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mae is survived by six children, William M. Sutton and his wife Ingrid, Tipton, Richard D. Sutton and wife Vikki, Port Charlotte, Florida, Dana S. Sutton and wife Shirley, Kokomo, Larry W. Sutton and wife Lynda, Ft. Worth, Texas, Kathie Turner and husband Mel, Tipton, Mark Sutton and wife Claire, Chicago; 12 grandchildren, Robert Sutton and wife Jennifer, Sarah Cornell, Mary Sutton and Jimmy Ashbaugh, Dr. Rebecca Ruf and husband Ben, Scott Sutton and wife Ashley, Jeremy Sutton and wife Carolyn, Jason Sutton and Tommy Rogers, Jennifer Phenicie and husband Matt, Melvin Turner and wife Mary, Cole, Elliot, and Ian Sutton; 14 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Tyler, Colby, Noah, Ali, Sophia, Cora, Ke'ala, Jacob, Jenna, Eva, Ayla and Colin; one great-great-grandchild Teegan.
She is also survived by one sister, Janice Darlington, Martinsburg, West Virginia and one brother, Marvin Ritenour, Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Mae's funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
