Louis R. Tragesser

June 26, 1926 — August 2, 2017

Louis R. Tragesser, 91 of Tipton died at 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.  He was born in Tipton on June 26, 1926 to Isadore George and Anna (Hickner) Tragesser.  Louie married Joan Catherine Hoffman on October 17, 1953.  Joan preceded him in death this past December 29, 2016.

Louie was a lifelong farmer and also worked for the US Postal Service.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he was involved with the RCIA program, and the Knights of Columbus.  He was also a member of the National Farmers Organization and he enjoyed teaching ballroom dancing.  Louie served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He is survived by six children, Elaine Dotson and husband Jim, Plainfield, Mike Tragesser and wife Vivian, Carmel, Sue Rehorst and husband Dave, Dayton, Ohio, Gary Tragesser and wife Sharon, West Lafayette, Scott Tragesser and wife Kelly, Ft. Wayne, Mary Ann Teuscher and husband Chuck, Tipton; 12 grandchildren, Ryan Dotson and wife Allyson, Kevin Dotson, Nicole Rehorst, Celina Tragesser, Sophia Tragesser, Alana Tragesser, Evan Tragesser, Sarah Tragesser, Anna Tragesser, Cody Tragesser, Jacob Teuscher, and Matt Teuscher.

Louie was the oldest of 19 children and he is survived by his siblings Jane Folk, Esther Folk, Margie Gillespie, Theresa Starke, Judy Collins, Barb Lipetri, Norma Stiner, Carol Mozzone, Agnes Hewitt, Edie Burke, Gene Tragesser, Lenny Tragesser and Jerry Tragesser.  He was preceded in death by siblings Beatrice Toler, William, George and Phillip Tragesser and Dorothy Koors.

A funeral mass for Louie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipton with Revs. Martin Gillespie and Dennis Goth presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home where a Wake and Rosary Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church on Monday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
