Leslie Earl “Les” Roe, 79 of Phoenix, Arizona died Thursday, October 25, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 24, 1933 in Tipton to Earl & Minnie (Shadday) Roe.
He was a 1951 graduate of Tipton High School. At age 19 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After completing his service, he returned to Indiana and became a business student at Indiana University. He was a sales representative for several companies, primarily furniture. His retirement years were spent in Arizona.
Les is survived by his wife of ten years, Penny; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cyrese and Frank Moore, Virginia, and Cathy and Jim Muloony of Phoenix; one brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Ruth Roe, Tipton; two sisters, Betty Burris, Leesburg, Indiana and Margaret Taylor, Anderson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Theresa (Mattingly) Roe; two sons, Jeff and Leslie Paul; three sisters, Dorothy Roe, Mary Cockrill and Phyllis Parnell, and one brother, Robert Roe.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
