Kokomo

Laura Ann Weber Doran, 62 of Kokomo passed at 7:30 a.m. on July 30, 2024 from Crohn's Disease liver failure.

Born February 15, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, Laura graduated from Bedford North Lawrence in 1980 and Indiana University in 1984. Laura was an accomplished athlete at BNL for the track and swim teams. Laura qualified for state in the 50 meter freestyle in all four years, and held 12 swim records. This super athlete turned into a super sports mom of four boys. Laura spent 20 years driving to and watching her boys play soccer and baseball. Her supermom skills served her well in the kitchen, feeding her army and becoming quite the chef.

A special hospice moment with Laura was sitting with David, the boys and their wives, going through photo albums and reminiscing about the favorite recipes she would make for each of them.

Laura was a talented seamstress who taught herself embroidery and generously gifted friends and family with beautiful custom blankets, sweatshirts, bags and more over the years.

Laura loved vacationing regularly in Gatlinburg in the Smoky Mountains, and reminisced often about her two dream trips to Maui, Hawaii with mom Jeanette in 1993 and with David in 2023.

Laura was a super dog mom also and she fostered and adopted out over 75 dogs and personally adopted many dogs throughout her and David's 40 year marriage.

Laura married David on May 19, 1984 in Bedford after five years of dating. She was the mother of four boys and had two granddaughters; Nathan (Laura Punter) Valparaiso, IN Caroline and Juliette; Andrew (Emily Jo West) Chucky, TN; Evan (Anna McNally) Houston, TX and Jordan, Kokomo, IN. Laura is survived by her three brothers; Michael (Tina) Huntington Woods, MI, Paul (Lydia) Bedford, IN andCarl (Lynn) Bedford, IN.

In death, Laura joins her parents, Lincoln ‘Tony’ and Jeanette DeChene Weber and her two older siblings, Susan and David.

In lieu of flowers, Laura would have loved your donation to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and/or your local animal shelter/rescue and to live by her motto: Don't shop, adopt!

Graveside service will be Sept 14, 2024 at St John's Cemetery at 12:00 with luncheon and celebration of life to follow at the home of Maxine Doran in Tipton.

Young-Nichols Funeral Home is honored to assist the Doran family in their time of need. Condolences may be left on Laura’s obituary page at www.young-nichols.com.
