Larry E. Grimes

Larry Edward Grimes, 70 of Tipton died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at I.U. Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born in Noblesville, Indiana on January 8, 1949 to Marion Edward and Mary Lou (Mace) Grimes.  Larry Married Tilly Chitwood in 1999.  She preceded him in death on November 6, 2005.  Larry had also lived in Kokomo, Sheridan and Frankfort.

Larry worked at Chrysler in Kokomo, as a mechanic and also worked at Firestone during his career.  He enjoyed collecting guns and coins.  He was an avid John Wayne and Burt Reynolds movie watcher.  He could often be found working word search puzzles.  Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his children, Edward Grimes of Texas, John Grimes and wife Jenny of Kirklin, and Jerra Spaulding of Texas.  His siblings include Karen Inman, Kay Ranney, Sue Stubbs, Alice Book, Bobby Grimes and Mike Grimes.  Grandchildren left to carry on his legacy include Lillian Case, Victoria, Dalilah, Nathaniel, Christopher, and Gabrielle Watson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Tilly, one daughter, Christina, and sisters Mary and Patsy.

The family will preside over funeral service on at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22,  at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial with Military Rites will occur Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall.
