Katherine M. "Kay" Gossard, 95 of Kokomo died at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Waterford Place in Kokomo. She was born August 10, 1917 in Frankfort to Nolan Byron & Martha K. (Richardson) Brittain. She married Donald W. "Gus" Gossard on February 19, 1949 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1982.
Kay was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Frankfort and a past member of Hope Chapter #5, Order of Eastern Star in Lafayette. Katherine was a graduate of Frankfort High School, Class of 1935 and belonged to the Kempton Women's Study Club. Prior to her marriage she had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. W. L. Hammersley in Frankfort and Dr. John C. Austin in Phoenix, Arizona.
Kay was preceded in death by her only daughter, Nathelle Kay Foust. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Mrs. Rosemary Medinger of Melbourne, Florida and Mrs. Gay Winslow and husband William of Beaufort, South Carolina; nephews, Dr. Garrett Saikley, Honolulu, Hawaii, Andrew Winslow and wife Rebekah, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Matthew Winslow, Charlotte, North Carolina; great nephews Joshua Winslow, Michael Winslow, and great niece, Rachel Winslow.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Knierim presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
