Katherine Deakyne

Katherine DeakyneKatherine Deakyne, 86, Englewood, Florida and a former Tipton resident, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008 at River Oaks Assisted Living in Englewood.  She was born January 12, 1922 in Howard County, Indiana to Fred & Edith (Ramey) Martin.   On July 19, 1940 she married Joseph L. Deakyne and he preceded her in death on September 18, 1997.Katherine had worked at Delco Remy in Anderson and was a member of Cape Haze Community Church in Placida, Florida.  She was also a member of the Lady Elks and Tipton County Shares.She is survived by three children, Larry Deakyne, Cool, California, Judith Hicks, Tipton, and Pamela Jones, Rotunda West, Florida; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two step-grandsons and six step-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m.Wednesday, September 17,at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Wednesday  prior to the funeral.Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, Florida, 33952.
