Judith Ann BairdJudy A. Baird, 70, of rural Tipton County died at 12:05 p.m.
Thursday, August 19, 2010 at St. Vincent Inpatient Hospice Care
Center in Indianapolis. She was born in Kokomo on August 16,
1940, the daughter of Glen and Georgia (Hoover) Ryan. Judy
married George Warren Baird on April 11, 1959, and he survives.Judy was a seamstress all her adult life. She began work in
1978 as a Tipton Middle School and Washington Elementary School Food
Service Employee retiring in 1994. She began working in 1994
as the Tipton County Soil and Water District office administrator
and retired in 2007.She was an active member of Cicero Christian Church, Joyorama, Soup
and Salad Soupmaker, Plum Grove Extension Homemakers, Past Tipton
County Extension Homemakers President, Secretary of the Tree City
Advisory Committee, Associate Supervisor of the Tipton County Soil
and Water Conservation District, and Indiana Association of Soil and
Water District. She was a Lifetime member of Indiana Forestry
and Woodland Owners Association, Northern Nut Growers, Lifetime
member and Secretary Walnut Council (Indiana Chapter). She
designed and created several Indiana Quilt blocks for Indiana
Association of Soil and Water Conservation District including
designing the entire National quilt in 2008. Judy also served
on the Tipton County Indiana Farm Bureau Board of Directors as
Secretary.Judy is survived by her husband, Warren, children Carol Jo (Steve)
Christenberry of Atlanta, IN; Gregory Warren (Amy) Baird of Kokomo;
and Brent Ryan Baird of Avondale, AZ; grandchildren Stephanie Lynn
(Jason) Villars, Laura Beth Christenberry, Kyle Gregory Baird, and
Emily Janel Christenberry; step grandchildren Greta, Nate and Owen
Fishback and great granddaughters Madilyn Faith Villars and Lia
Grace Villars. Also surviving is her mother, Georgia Ryan and
brother Garry (Mickey) Ryan and several nieces and nephews.Judy was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Glen Ryan, brother
Jerry Lee Ryan and nephew Richard Ryan.She enjoyed traveling with Warren, sewing for all of her family and
playing the piano. She will be remembered always for her kind
Christian heart, warm wit, and contagious smile.Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday August 23, at the
Cicero Christian Church
with Revs. Tim Lueking and Kevin Carr presiding and burial to follow
in Union Cemetery, Hamilton County. Visitation
will be
from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 22 at the church and also Monday from
10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Union
