John W. SchulenburgJohn W. Schulenburg, 97 of Tipton died at 11:41 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014 at I.U. Health Tipton Hospital.  He was born on February 3, 1917 in Tipton County to Paul and Martha (Leininger) Schulenburg.  On August 18, 1939 John married Capitola Hancock and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2003.John was a life-long Tipton County farmer.  He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton where he served as an Elder, Trustee, Financial Secretary, Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. John graduated from Tipton High School in 1935.He is survived by five children; Robert and Vicky Schulenburg, Radcliff, Kentucky, Richard and Gail Schulenburg, Georgetown, Texas, Nila and David Natzke, Brooklyn, Wisconsin, Marla Schulenburg, Tipton, and Bruce and Becky Schulenburg, Tipton.  He is also survived by one sister, Hulda Holsten, Tipton; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.John was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert, Arnold, Emory, Melvin and Walter Schulenburg, and one grandchild.Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton with Rev. Robb Roloff presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, Missouri, 63141; Emanuel Lutheran Church 1385 S.
