Jerry Lane Shadday

Jerry Lane Shadday, 74 of Tipton passed away at his home on Sunday, March 10, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born on January 10, 1950 in Elwood to Gene Willard & Verna Ann (Marshall) Shadday. Jerry was a lifelong Tipton County resident. On August 15, 1970 he married Janet Marie Hembrecht. The couple enjoyed 53 years of marriage together.

Jerry was a graduate of Tipton High School class of 1968. After graduating high school, Jerry continued his education at a two year technical school. Jerry retired from Delco Electronics in 2000 after working 30 years in chip production. He was a member of West Street Christian Church. Jerry was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1590 and the Tipton American Legion Post #46.

He enjoyed being outdoors and being active. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and pitching horse shoes. Jerry was proud of his yard and spent many hours mowing and grooming it. Jerry also liked to take walks always looking for arrowheads; along with hunting, and fishing. When he wasn’t able to be outside he would spend his time watching sports, especially NASCAR. On occasion you could also find him trying his luck at the casino.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Janet of Tipton; his mother, Verna of Tipton; two children, Dawn Lynn Lewis and husband Kevin of Kokomo, Tony Shadday and wife Missi of Tipton; six grandchildren, Courtney Shadday, Paige Shadday, Kaden Lewis, Braxten Lewis, Nicole Edwards, Amanda Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Kaysen Larimer, Paisley Trout-Vibbert, and Finnley Smith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marcia Kay Waid and his father, Gene.

Jerry’s funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at the West Street Christian Church with Rev. Ashley Sherard presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service, also at the church.
