Jean Leininger, 86 of Tipton died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born February 12, 1925 in Hamilton County to Earl & Emma (Harrell) Hodson. She married Ezra E.F. Leininger on April 6, 1947 and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1986.
Jean had worked in the Tipton High School Cafeteria and at J.C. Penney. She was a member of the Normanda Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Fellowship, Tipton County Extension Homemakers Club and was a Jefferson Township 4-H Leader. She also volunteered for many other organizations. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.
She is survived by four children, Gail Zauss and husband Kenneth, Waldron, Gloria Snow and husband Allen, Shelbyville, Mark Leininger and wife Kathy, Tipton and Julie Hensley and husband Alan, Tipton; one sister, Patricia “Pat” Egler, Kempton and one brother, Max H. Hodson, The Villages, Florida. Jean also has 10 grandchildren, Emily Colpi, Laura Bossingham, Andrew Snow, Jarod Snow, Joni Pearson, Angie Leininger, Clark Leininger, Grace Leininger, Jennifer Fernung and Lizzy Hensley; 19 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12 at the Normanda Christian Church, with Steve Brown presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, all at the church.
