Jack E. PlakeJack Edward Plake, 63, 881S, 725W, Tipton, was born August 21,1943, to Ruby (Burris) Fox, who survives and Arthur Plake, deceased, in Tipton, Indiana. Jack was called to his heavenly home at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2007.He was married to Cassandra Swaim on June 16, 1962. Children include Ralph Anthony Plake and wife Barbara, grandchildren Shiloh Swaim Plake (Carmel), Amanda Nicole Plake, Calen Smith and Brandon Ryan of Hutto, Texas; Barry Alan Plake, Denver, Colorado; and daughter Marcina Lynn and husband, James Richard Whitesell, and grandchildren, Cassandra Joan Whitesell, Chad and Andrew Whitesell of Tipton, Indiana.Jack was a member of Kemp United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, former church scout leader and was active as usher, greeter, and committee member.An active member of Elks Lodge #1012, he served twice as Past Exalted Ruler and was active in the Elks Bowling League. Jack twice won the Elks National Singles Bowling Tournament. Jack is an inductee into the Tipton Bowlers Hall of Fame.Active in the Elks Golf League, he was three times champ with partner and very close friend, Jeff Lovegrove.A member and Past Master of the Masons, Austin Lodge 128, he was also a member of the Order of the Yorkrite and the Shrine, Murat Temple.He as a member of the International Association of Laryngectomees, Anamillo Club of Indianapolis. Having had a laryngectomy for eight years, Jack attended International conventions both here in the US and Canada for seven years, once serving as a delegate from his Indianapolis club.Jack was a tool and die maker, having graduated from Allied Institute of Chicago, Illinois and having worked 36 years for Delco Electronics, General Motors Corporation, Kokomo, Indiana. For years he was involved in union work, with Local 292. After retiring and taking disability, he helped Cassandra Plake create Plake Tooling, Inc., a small business she owned until selling the business to nephew, Lonnie Morrison.Jack was active with his children and their sports, coaching little league baseball, and serving as president of the Kempton Little League, and always attending sporting events the children were involved in, which were many.Surviving brothers are Earl A. Plake and his wife Lynn, Burkburnette, Texas, Charles W. Plake and his wife Carol, Tipton, and brother-in-law Edward Swaim, Tipton.Surviving sisters are Ruby Jeanne Wylie and her husband Earl, Salina, Tennessee, Sherry Osborn and her husband James, Tipton, Arletta Plake, Tipton, Vickie Dickey and her husband Fred, Frankfort, sister-in-law Lucinda Ison and her husband Ted, Kokomo.He is survived by 12 nephews,  Kenneth Joe and Nancy Wylie, Jeff and Elaine Plake, Joel and Heather Plake, Bill Osborn, Joe and Christy Osborn, Lonnie L. Morrison, Jack W. Plake, Dr. Charles J. and Cristi Dickey, Marcus Dickey, Brian and Shannon Metsker, Patrick and Jennifer Metsker and Todd Swaim.Jack is also survived by 12 nieces, Sharlot Kelly, Marsha and Michael Miller, Janel and Don Coker, Cindy and Bill Boyle, Christy and Steve McDole, Judy and Kevin Hitchell, Stephanie and Steve Eddy, Anita and Steve Dungan, Tina and Dan O'Vadka, Carrie and Rick Greene, Kathy and Tim Mendenhall, and Julie and Al Ruiz.He is survived by forty-three great nieces and nephews, twelve great-great nieces and nephews and many, much loved aunts, uncles and cousins.A memorial celebrating Jack’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20 at the Kemp United Methodist Church, 222 N. Main Street, Tipton, with the Rev. Mark Ingle officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday and an Elks Memorial service will be held at 7:15 during visitation with the family at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.Please omit flowers.  Memorials may be made to Kemp United Methodist Church.
