Imogene R. (Lett) Holmes

Imogene R. (Lett) Holmes, 90 of Tipton died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at her residence. She was born February 24, 1924 in Seymour, Indiana to Oscar & Emily (Hartley) Rogers. She married Robert Lett in 1947, he preceded her in death in 1974. Imogene married Horace “Bud” Holmes in 1977 and preceded her in death on May 8, 1983.

She worked at the Tipton Community School Corporation as a high school math teacher retiring in 1985. Imogene was a graduate of Columbus High School, Hanover College in 1946, and Ball State University where she obtained her masters degree in 1974. Imogene was a member of West Street Christian Church, Tri Kappa, Tipton Hospital Auxiliary, Phi Mu Sorority, many bridge clubs, and Tipton County Republican Women.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen R. Lett, and wife Karen, Bethany Beach, Delaware, Michael A. Lett, Avon, Indiana, and Thomas R. Lett, Tipton; a step-daughter, Jo Carolyn Caldwell, Lewes, Delaware; three grandchildren, Gregory S. Lett and wife Kate, John M. Lett, and Lindsay M. Lett. Imogene was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Siver, Helen Mitchell, and Marian Moritz.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, at West Street Christian Church with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.
