Helen C. BeanHelen C. Bean, 89, Tipton, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton.  She was born July 29, 1918 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Charles & Lora Mae (Caltender) Keele.  She married Gerald Bean and he died in January 2006..Helen worked at International Shoe Company in Mt. Vernon and was the owner of Geriellen Kennels also in Mt. Vernon.She belonged to East Salem Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, the Jefferson County Historical Society and Jefferson County Home Extension Club.Survivors include one son, Gene Lewis, Tipton; two sisters, Lucille Johnson, Dixon, Illinois and Maxine Jones, Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One sister, Mary Leffler, is deceased.There are no local services planned.  She will be cremated with her cremains being returned to Mt.
