Harold R. Fitch, 90 of Tipton died at 2:22 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at I.U. Health Tipton Hospital. He was born June 11, 1922 in Cheneyville, Illinois to Clarence Everett & Myrtle (Baity) Fitch. He married Miriam "Peg" Magnett on January 19, 1943 and she preceded him in death on October 3, 1988. On July 16, 1989 he married Martha Webster and she survives.
Harold retired in 1978 from Continental Steel in Kokomo. He attended Rock Prairie Baptist Church in Tipton. Harold enjoyed visiting flea markets and playing the guitar. He played at nursing homes and churches and just loved "pickin and grinnin". From 1942 – 1945 Harold served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sperry in the South Pacific.
Survivors besides his wife Martha of Goldsmith include four children, Ann Hiner and husband Tom, Sheridan, Carolyn Wertz and husband Steve, Goldsmith, Rick Webster, Goldsmith and Ron Webster and wife Lisa, Russiaville.
Harold is also survived by nine grandchildren, Christina Beck, Lynnette Von Werder and husband Bill, Ronnie Brewer and wife Robin, Rodney Brewer and wife Patti, Natalie West and husband Josh, Jonathon Wertz and wife Maggie, Ryan Webster and wife Rachel, Elijah Webster and Kathryn Webster; 11 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and a special friend, Albert Cooper of Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Letha Rader and Virginia Fulk; one brother Dorsey Fitch, and one great-granddaughter, Lilly West.
Harold's funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10 at Rock Prairie Baptist Church with pastor Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
