Grace Anne Crawford, 92, Carmel, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Summer Trace in Carmel. She was born near Atlanta on May 4, 1920 to Lee & Jessie (Lane) Gasho. She married Maurice Crawford in September 1940 and he preceded her in death in July, 1991.
After graduating from Tipton High School in 1937, she attended Franklin College where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She later completed her education at Ball State University. Grace Anne served as the librarian at Atlanta-Jackson Township Library. After retiring from the library in 1984, she enjoyed traveling to many locations around the world.
In 2004 she moved from the family farm near Atlanta to the Summer Trace retirement community in Carmel. She was a life-long member of the Atlanta Christian Church and worshiped at the Carmel Christian Church during her residency in Carmel.
Grace Ann is survived by her children, Penelope Cecchini, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Andy Crawford and wife Sue, Savoy, Illinois, Claire Snyder and husband Ed, Atlanta; four grandchildren, Sarah (Crawford) Voisin and husband Gregory, Montreal, Canada, Carl Crawford and wife Colleen, Champaign, Illinois, Joe Snyder and wife Pam, Atlanta and Alex Snyder, Oslo, Norway. She is also great-grandmother to Axelle and Zachary Voisin, Andrew and Olivia Crawford and Robert and Spencer Wimborough.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, at the Atlanta Christian Church with Rev. Jody Brown presiding followed by a period of fellowship at the church.
